TamaraX's adoption story, in her own words

TAMARAX ON HER BEING ADOPTED
In Monument Valley Utah, TamaraX announces at picnic dinner " I grew in your (Randye's) stomach". We
decide right then to tell her that she grew in someone else's stomach but joined our family, and each of our
three children joined our family in there own special way. We told her we adopted her. Natasha then
helpfully(??) comments "Just like Fang (our cat)". TamaraX "What was her (birth mothers) name?" We
explain that was not important but for 10 minutes TamaraX insists on a name "She has to have a name,
You have to know the name" We relent and tell her it is Jeanette. TamaraX "Can we be friends?" We tell
her one day. She is satisfied and asks no more. 3 ¾
She relates the whole story to Omi three weeks later. It also turns out she comes to the conclusion that the
person coming to see Natasha (Annette) must be her birth mother. Having gotten the names Annette and
Jeanette confused. This is eventually straightened out.
TamaraX asks why her mother gave her up, how old she (birth mother) was and what she looked like. 4 ½
TamaraX tells her teacher she is adopted. 6
TamaraX walks in on Martin hugging Randye. Martin to TamaraX "Where did you come from?"
TamaraX's immediate response "From an eighteen year old." 6
TamaraX says "I want to see Jeanette." We say later. TamaraX "I want her to see me now. She won't know
what I look like at this age" We tell her there will be photos. 7
TamaraX " Did Jeanette have a husband?" Us "No". TamaraX " Then how could she have me?" We
explain then that she had a boyfriend. Next day after a minor skiing mishap she tells the patrolman in first
aid area "I have two moms. The first was 18 and couldn't take care of me so she gave me to Randye. She
didn't have a husband only a boyfriend" etc. etc. Patrolman gives Randye directions to the bar. 7 ¼
TamaraX to Randye " If Jeanette had kept me I'd have a good life, but I'm having a great life because I'm
with you." 7 ½
TamaraX to Randye " Did you have a to pay a lot for me?" Randye " All children cost money"
TamaraX "Did they make sure I would have a good home?" Randye " A social worker checked us out"
TamaraX "Well they should have know it would be OK since Kyle was 4 and Natasha was 12 and you
hadn't killed either of them" 8 ½
TamaraX to Dad " I want to adopt a baby when I grow up" Dad, thinking he knows her reason asks her
why. TamaraX "Well I don't want to have to do THAT with a boy" 9 ½
TamaraX to Randye "I don't like it when my friends ask 'Don't you want to meet your real mom?' I tell
them you (Randye) are my real mom, the other woman just gave birth to me, and this is my family" Randye
to TamaraX. "Well Dad and I work hard to make us all a family" TamaraX to Randye "Well you've done a
good job" 10 1/2
